Course Description

This is a one-day themed course delivered by members of the Manchester Safeguarding Partnership Training Pool.
Domestic Violence and Abuse is prevalent across all areas in Manchester and Nationwide and is a common theme in many Serious Case Reviews.
Please apply for this course if you work with adults, young people, children and their families in Manchester and need to understand the Manchester strategy on DV&A.
You need to have completed a basic awareness safeguarding course within the past 3 years to qualify for this course.

Aims

The aim of this course is to provide an awareness of Domestic Violence and Abuse.
The training will examine

• the barriers to leaving
• post-separation
• safety planning
• the impact on parenting
• the impact on the child
• resilience

Learning Outcomes

• Recognise the effects of intimate partner violence and abuse on children, young people and adults, and, the implications for their safety and well-being
• Recognise the risks to and protective factors for children, young people and adults who are living with domestic violence and abuse.
• Recognise the potential indicators of domestic violence and abuse for children, young people and adults.
• Recognise appropriate interventions and support for children, young people and adults.
• Understand your professional role and responsibilities in safeguarding children, young people and adults and raise awareness of the Safe and Together model.
