Course Description

Do you know someone who is caring for somebody else’s child?  Do you need to know more about Private Fostering?

There is a legal obligation to inform a local authority of a private fostering arrangement. This half day briefing aims to raise awareness of Private Fostering, how this impacts children and how practitioners should respond.

Please apply for this course if you are currently working with or providing a service to a Manchester child or family (eg within the local authority area of Manchester). 

Aims

To raise awareness of Private Fostering and ensure that all professionals working with families and carers can identify a private fostering arrangement and understand their roles and responsibilities in notifying the Local Authority.

Learning Outcomes

• To ensure professionals are aware of the legislation, policy and procedures relating to private fostering.
• Raise professionals awareness to why children in private fostering arrangements are a particularly vulnerable group.
• Raise awareness of the links between private fostering and trafficking.
• Raise awareness that it is everyones responsibility to notify the local authority of a private fostering arrangement.
• Ensure professionals are aware of the duty of the Local Authority in relation to private fostering.
• Share good practice.
• Complete an MSP Training Course Action Plan
