This Domestic Homicide Review (DHR) looks at the death of 'Karen' who was killed by her brother `John` in 2016. Both Karen and her brother had enduring mental health conditions managed differently by themselves and services. There were concerns around alcohol misuse and that`John` could be difficult to engage.
DHRs were established on a statutory basis under Section 9 of the Domestic Violence, Crime and Victims Act (2004). The purpose of a DHR is to establish what lessons are to be learned from the domestic homicide about how local professionals and organisations work individually and together to safeguard victims.
Learning packs will be made available as part of this briefing and will include a power point presentation, 7 minute briefing and a summary Learning Report, so that each agency can cascade and share the learning prior to the cases being published.
Cut off date for applications has now passed.
