Course Description

Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES) are stressful or traumatic events in childhood and can include abuse, neglect or household dysfunction such as witnessing domestic violence or abuse.  These experiences can have a major impact on an individual’s future health and wellbeing. 

This is a one day Awareness of ACES and an introduction to Trauma Informed Practice course aimed at anyone who works with children and or their families in Manchester.  This course will be delivered by multi agency professionals including social workers, health professionals, education professionals and faith leaders. 

This training is aimed at anyone who works with residents in Manchester.  

Aims

• This training aims to provide multi agency professionals with an opportunity to better understand ACES and to discuss a trauma informed approach when working with children and their families.  The course will also discuss the impact of toxic stress and how building resilience can improve outcomes for the individuals, families and communities.

Learning Outcomes

• Discuss the science of ACES.
• Discuss the impact of ACES
• Explore a Trauma Informed practice.
• Consider the impact of Stress on brain development and well being
• Identify what promotes resilience
• Explore how to promote resilience in your role
• Complete an MSP Training Course Action Plan
