Course Description

Intended audience:

Practitioners who work in social care with people where an interpreter is required to facilitate communication.

Aims

In this session, participants will learn about:

• Communicating effectively via an interpreter
• Overcoming communication barriers
• Working successfully across language difference

• Current legal framework
• Equality and diversity
• Race and ethnicity
• Culturally appropriate practices

Trainer and format of the session:

This face-to-face one-day session (10.00 – 16.00) is facilitated by Atul Ramanuj, manager of M-Four Communication and Language Support Service. Atul has over three decades of experience working across language difference.  Participants will have the opportunity to undertake small group discussions, alongside the taught content.
